How to Get Ready for Pickup Day
The good news: getting ready for a junk pickup mostly means deciding, not lifting. The crew handles the physical work. Here is the short list that makes the day go smoothly.
Decide what stays and what goes
You do not have to move anything, but you do have to know the answer. Walk the space and decide which items are leaving. For bigger cleanouts, deciding room by room keeps it manageable.
Separate or mark anything you are keeping
Anything that must stay should be clearly separated or marked before the crew begins. Once items are removed they generally cannot be recovered, so this step matters most on estate and storage cleanouts.
Think through the route out
Stairs, narrow hallways, tight doorways, elevators, backyard gates, and long carries to the truck all change how a job runs. You do not need to fix any of it — just notice it, so you can tell us.
Drain and disconnect where it applies
Appliances should be disconnected before removal, and hot tubs drained and disconnected. If anything about a hookup is unusual, mention it on the call.
Know your timing
If the space has to be cleared by a certain date — a move, a closing, a tenancy turnover — have that date ready. Larger cleanouts need more planning than single-item pickups.
